Teaching Chair Yoga
Graduates of any 200-hour yoga teacher training can expand their offerings with this substantive training. Julia has been teaching chair yoga for 18 years, and her Yoga Therapy training has provided her with much expertise in working with various populations. Cost of the training is $95.
There are many applications for chair yoga: it is a boon for those who have difficulty getting up and down off the floor--whether due to aging or injury-- and it offers stress relief in office or hospital settings. The following training provides 4 CEU contact hours with the Yoga Alliance.
Teaching Chair Yoga October 21, 2023, 1:00-5:00 $95
This workshop will prepare you to teach chair yoga to various populations, in diverse settings. You will learn how to structure an hour-long chair class for elderly, as well as how to use the chair as a prop for those with limited flexibility. Learn a variety of adapted seated asanas, including sun salutation and savasana, as well as resistance exercises for strength. Julia will provide guidance for enhancing range of motion and sharpening students’ focus, and she will address conditions affecting the elderly such as osteoporosis, arthritis, vertigo, hypertension, anxiety and depression.
This training includes an extensive handout with resources for further learning, and the cost of the course includes the opportunity to teach a 30-minute chair yoga class via zoom followed by student feedback.
